At SangFroid Web, we work with clients across the metro Atlanta area—even though we’re physically based in Alpharetta. To grow our visibility in nearby cities where we don’t have an office, we use a strategy we regularly implement for clients: high-quality Local SEO City Landing Pages.
To show what’s possible, we created City Landing Pages for Dunwoody, Buford, and Suwanee on our own website and monitored them as individual case studies. Our goal was to see how effectively high-value city content could lift rankings in cities where we don’t have a physical location.
The results confirmed what we explain in our Local SEO resources:
City Landing Pages work, even when you don’t have a physical address in the city
These pages help strengthen geographic relevance—something that matters to both traditional search and AI search systems.
Unlike “thin” copy-paste city pages used by low-quality SEO vendors, our approach uses unique content with real examples, service detail, local context, and clear internal linking.
Why City Pages Work (Even Without a Physical Address)
When a business creates high-quality content tailored to a specific city, it helps search engines understand:
You serve customers there
You’re relevant to that location’s local intent
You have meaningful, specific expertise to offer
That’s why well-written City Pages frequently outrank businesses with physical storefronts who have no corresponding content.
Our Approach to Creating City Pages
To test our approach on our own site, each page followed the same best practices we implement for clients:
Unique, helpful content about the city
Not “template paragraphs,” but real context: industries, neighborhoods, business needs, and examples.
Clear explanation of services
Including web design, SEO, and Local SEO—written specifically for each location.
Strong internal linking
Service pages → City pages → Related content (case studies, blog posts, AI SEO articles)
Clean technical foundation
Structured headings, fast load times, descriptive alt text, and semantic structure.
Localized FAQs driven by real search behavior
Improving relevance for both search engines and AI Overviews.
No duplicate content
Every city page stands alone as a unique piece of expert-level content.

3 CASE STUDIES: Local SEO City Landing Pages
1. Buford, GA Local SEO City Landing Page Case Study
When we published the Buford City Landing Page, our goal was simple: test whether a well-structured, high-intent local page could build visibility in a city where we do not have a physical office. The results were fast and dramatic.

Impressions: Nearly 3× Growth in 4 Months
Before publishing the Buford page, queries containing “Buford” generated:
2,230 impressions (4 months prior)
In the four months after launch, impressions jumped to:
6,080 impressions
That’s a 173% increase, driven entirely by having a dedicated, optimized local page.
Keyword Rankings: Page 4 → Page 1 in Weeks
We tracked a set of 17 Buford-focused keywords, including:
web design buford ga
buford local seo
wordpress web design buford
buford web design company
buford website optimization
…and other service/modifier combinations
Average Position Moves +34 Positions in 6 Weeks
Before publishing the Buford page:
Average position: 36 (Alpharetta)
Average position: 37 (Atlanta)
These rankings essentially meant we were invisible in Buford-related searches outside our physical city.
After publishing the Buford page:
In 2 weeks, average position improved to:
Position 4 (Alpharetta view)
Position 4 (Atlanta view)
In 6 weeks, average position climbed to:
Position 2 (Alpharetta)
Position 2 (Atlanta)
This demonstrates that Google began treating us as geographically relevant for Buford—even without a physical location—simply because we provided strong, clear, local-intent content.
Why This Matters for Local SEO
This single Buford page reinforces what we outline in our Local SEO content guides:
City Landing Pages can expand your geographic reach beyond your physical address.
Suwanee delivered some of the fastest, most dramatic ranking improvements we’ve seen from any City Landing Page test. Because Suwanee is geographically closer to our physical office than cities like Buford or Lawrenceville, Google already had weak-but-present signals of relevance. The new Suwanee City Page gave Google (and AI search surfaces) the exact clarity it needed — and the rankings responded almost immediately.

Impressions: From 0 → 276 in 1 Week
Before publishing the Suwanee page, queries containing “Suwanee” generated:
0 impressions
After launch:
276 impressions in the first week...starting the very next day.
This reflects how a targeted, high-quality city page can open up an entire segment of search visibility that previously didn’t exist.
Average Position Moves +25 Positions in 6 Weeks
Before publishing the Suwanee page:
Average position: 20 (Alpharetta)
Average position: 30 (Atlanta)
After publishing the Suwanee page:
Within 2 weeks, average position improved to:
Position 1 (Alpharetta)
Position 1 (Atlanta)
Keyword Rankings: Page 2–3 → Position #1 Across the Board
We tracked 16 Suwanee-focused keywords, such as:
local seo services suwanee, suwanee web design, suwanee wordpress designer, website design suwanee, etc.
Before publishing the Suwanee page:
Only 2 of 16 keywords ranked in the top 3
After publishing the Suwanee page:
Within 8 weeks:
All 16 of 16 keywords ranked in the top 3
Most of them ranking in Position #1
This is one of the fastest ranking shifts we’ve recorded — and it highlights that Google already perceived some geographic affinity but lacked a strong, authoritative page to validate it. Once that page existed, Google immediately recalibrated rankings.
Why Suwanee Responded So Quickly
Three main factors likely contributed to the instant lift:
1. Geographic proximity
We are naturally more relevant to Suwanee than to cities farther away because of Alpharetta's proximity to Suwanee. The new landing page served as a strong confirmation signal for Google.
2. Clear, high-quality local content
Just like our other City Pages, the Suwanee page was:
uniquely written
rich in service detail
structured for semantic clarity
internally linked
locally contextualized
3. Low content competition
Few web design/SEO companies have high-quality Suwanee-specific landing pages. That made it easier for our page to quickly dominate page 1 and the top positions.
3. Dunwoody, GA – City Landing Page Case Study
Dunwoody was our fastest mover—likely because it sits almost exactly between our Alpharetta and Buckhead locations, giving Google strong geographic confidence about our relevance. What happened after publishing the Dunwoody city page:
From 0 to
+
impressions in 1 month.
Moved
+
to Position 1 in weeks.
From 0 to
%
Keywords in Top 3.
Average Ranking Jump:
From an average position of 13 to the top spot (#1) in just 6 weeks for the same set of 16 service/geographic keyword combos — and it has stayed at #1 in both regions for four straight months.
Top 3 Domination:
Went from 3 of 16 keywords ranking on page 1 → to all 16 keywords ranking in the Top 3 organic results.
Increase in Impressions:
From 0 to 634 impressions in the first month alone.
Bottom line:
Because the Dunwoody area aligns closely with our real-world service radius, the city page helped Google confidently match our services to local intent—resulting in rapid, stable ranking gains.
What These Tests Shows About Local SEO Strategy
This experiment backs up what we advise clients every single day:
You can absolutely rank in cities where you don’t have a physical location. As long as your content truly speaks to that local audience.
City Landing Pages are powerful “context signals” for both Google and AI systems. AI Overviews and AI Mode rely heavily on semantically rich, location-relevant passages.
City pages build your topical authority in the metro area. The more locations you cover with expertise-driven content, the more search engines understand the true scope of your business.
