CASE STUDIES: Local SEO Without a Local Office – How We Expanded Rankings Using Strategic City Pages

At SangFroid Web, we work with clients across the metro Atlanta area—even though we’re physically based in Alpharetta. To grow our visibility in nearby cities where we don’t have an office, we use a strategy we regularly implement for clients: high-quality Local SEO City Landing Pages.

To show what’s possible, we created City Landing Pages for Dunwoody, Buford, and Suwanee on our own website and monitored them as individual case studies. Our goal was to see how effectively high-value city content could lift rankings in cities where we don’t have a physical location.

    1. Buford, GA Local SEO City Landing Page Case Study

    When we published the Buford City Landing Page, our goal was simple: test whether a well-structured, high-intent local page could build visibility in a city where we do not have a physical office. The results were fast and dramatic.

    Before publishing the Buford page, queries containing “Buford” generated:

    • 2,230 impressions (4 months prior)

    In the four months after launch, impressions jumped to:

    These rankings essentially meant we were invisible in Buford-related searches outside our physical city.

    In 2 weeks, average position improved to:

    • Position 4 (Alpharetta view)
    • Position 4 (Atlanta view)

    In 6 weeks, average position climbed to:

Because Suwanee is geographically closer to our physical office than cities like Buford or Lawrenceville, Google already had weak-but-present signals of relevance. The new Suwanee City Page gave Google (and AI search surfaces) the exact clarity it needed — and the rankings responded almost immediately.

    Keyword Rankings: Page 2–3 → Position #1 Across the Board

    We tracked 16 Suwanee-focused keywords, such as:

    local seo services suwanee, suwanee web design, suwanee wordpress designer, website design suwanee, etc.

    Before publishing the Suwanee page:

    Only 2 of 16 keywords ranked in the top 3

    After publishing the Suwanee page:

    Within 8 weeks:

    • All 16 of 16 keywords ranked in the top 3
    • Most of them ranking in Position #1

    This is one of the fastest ranking shifts we’ve recorded — and it highlights that Google already perceived some geographic affinity but lacked a strong, authoritative page to validate it. Once that page existed, Google immediately recalibrated rankings.

    Explosion in Impressions. Why Suwanee Responded So Quickly

    Three main factors likely contributed to the instant lift:

    1. Geographic proximity

    We are naturally more relevant to Suwanee than to cities farther away because of Alpharetta's proximity to Suwanee. The new landing page served as a strong confirmation signal for Google.

    2. Clear, high-quality local content

    Just like our other City Pages, the Suwanee page was:

    • uniquely written
    • rich in service detail
    • structured for semantic clarity
    • internally linked
    • locally contextualized
    3. Low content competition

    Few web design/SEO companies have high-quality Suwanee-specific landing pages. That made it easier for our page to quickly dominate page 1 and the top positions.

    3. Dunwoody, GA – City Landing Page Case Study

    Dunwoody was our fastest mover—likely because it sits almost exactly between our Alpharetta and Buckhead locations, giving Google strong geographic confidence about our relevance. What happened after publishing the Dunwoody city page:

    From an average position of 13 to the top spot (#1) in just 6 weeks for the same set of 16 service/geographic keyword combos — and it has stayed at #1 in both regions for four straight months.

    Because the Dunwoody area aligns closely with our real-world service radius, the city page helped Google confidently match our services to local intent—resulting in rapid, stable ranking gains.

    This experiment backs up what we advise clients every single day:

    1. You can absolutely rank in cities where you don’t have a physical location. As long as your content truly speaks to that local audience.
